On Route One 07:05
Come on lets begin to tell a little story Eyes are on the prize, the thoughts are on the glory Where it takes you it’s so easy to see But what comes in between is what’s so vexing to me (On Route One) Oh, and see the stars shine at night On an afternoon the clouds can tower bright But I am but a boy, how far can I go? Until things get tangled up and objects stop to flow Piled high upon the sky is the air of imagination You can go so far at any distance you can think of (On Route One) And the stars in your eyes And when the wind blows it forms shapes for miles Oh when I’m thinking more Clearly than before Looking things over Hearing them some more Oh it gets clearer Ideas can fly around Speeds are the same wherever they are bound After all I know, I can say sorry Everything I do is all for you my love Discoveries, progress, positive outcomes From quiet solitude it all can flow around Oh rolling over Clearer than before and I'm looking things over Hearing them some more Oh it gets clearer Ideas can fly around Speeds are the same wherever they are bound

Well I've been goin' down to Georgia, just to spill away the time I got back from California, wasn’t good enough for them and their kind They’ll reduce me down to nothing, sometimes it makes me want to die Well I saw my Betty Taylor, she been drinkin' all my wine Said it belonged to no one else, she had gotten it off that vine She got problems up to here, well I sure as hell am glad they’re not mine But she got darting eyes, she got eyes of steel, she won’t rest for a moment till she gets her fill, tell me Why did I come back here, just to spill away the time She’ll reduce me down to nothing, sometimes it makes me want to die So I went up to Old Missouri, just to see my Uncle Jed He’d been selling them narcotics, so he could fill up his big head Well I thought I’d pay a visit, so I could fill him up with lead Close those darting eyes, close those eyes of steel, he won’t rest for a moment till he gets his fill, tell me Why did I come back here, just to spill away the time He’ll reduce me down to nothing, sometimes it makes me want to die

The Fall 03:57
Easily done said the man with the small gun take care of yourself, you’ll fly up to the sun Well it may not be a pleasant ride, I say this crazed society, it has taken the wrong side and the man with the briefcase and a spring in his step is at fault He takes it all for himself, gives it to nobody else and then he Complains of conditions and expects them to fly and Watch as the people die Welfare increases the crime Take it away, there’s more hell to pay And it shall fall apart, it’s an extreme! On the side over there, people with brains in their hair They say they can change it all by trying to Even out the score, robin hood would not ignore the success, well A few pennies earned would be a few pennies less, waiting to get into a large kind of mess Who’s opinion is my freedom, it could change into a bad deal Yet I sit back waiting, sit back Watch as the people sigh Freewill has gone by the wayside But culture over there is screaming It all comes tumbling down, in the fall We lacked all the faith so we die Excess has torn us apart Fall down the hill to the side Can someone lift us up? After the fall

Shining people, where are they now? Have they gone away for sure, have they closed the open door? Walk but cannot take a step, it feels like anything secure, it has fallen to the floor Where are you to lead my way? Or have you forgotten as you did, that far and distant day What I had was all gone, suppose it meant nothing but I guess it should be better off that way and After The Fall you know we’ll take it all we’ll throw it down, we’ll sit back and wait for more We dropped the ball we thought we knew it all but we remember nothing and we think our time is short, it can’t go on Watch the streets and feel the glow there’s more to darkness than we know, yet our heads can fill with woe but something makes us see ahead beyond the trees back in the distance, it moves so fast standing ground at other times just to make sure things go right, and help us in our plight You’ll move closer once you know you have no other place to go, you’ve lost your mind cause you Can’t believe, but why can’t we perceive that there are ways to carry on from far away and After the Fall you know we’ll take it all we’ll throw it down, but we should sit down, wait for more reasons, wait for change of seasons, faces not confirming, thoughts in a different place

What’s wrong with the world, what’s the problem with you? Slow, hard to agree that there’s more we must do. It feels as if someone ran a haze across your mind. Try to move ahead, don’t just wallow back in time Look into your eyes I can see that there’s nothing, I know you Stuck to old ways and no way to explain it, I’ve lost you I can speak to a wall, I can stand on the floor with more answers You’re not the one I can choose to rely on, so let me be Tell this little man that it’s not quite what it seems It could curve any which way and he’d still drop down to his knees Briskly moves along but he fails to look both ways He builds up all these words around ordinary days Look into your eyes I’m confused by their meaning, is there one at all? Stick to a purpose, don’t wander away to a beckoning call I can look out my window, to see if there’s movement, I’m wasting my time I’m better without you, you ruin the things left, so easy Look into their eyes, you can see that there’s nothing, you take them away If something should sparkle, they bow in a minute, they drop to their knees There’s nothing at all, but at least you have something, so move them away Well off without them, worth less than each other, you need it.

We thought we had it figured out we thought that everything would be fine that it wouldn't change the way it did But now we must make decisions about The way we carry on inside I am a man who would Walk through the land with a Lovely grin and a thoughtless care above my head Reality follows from behind the faces change, they rearrange with my mind all good to me, what can’t I see all the time There was a girl with a grasp on the world and a kindhearted glow that would trickle into your soul and pull you from within she filled her mind with this useless shit from the outside she could come back, but who needs that anymore Everybody’s got their place, so they think but they can’t trust Their emotions more than weather Please do anything you’d like, as long as you can think it’s right And there’s no more room to argue There was a guy who would define good times based on constant events and he doesn’t fear anything else and he wastes away his time it’s not complex, but does he wonder anyway In the back of his head, he could be dead anytime Mister would you like a drink, unless it’s all that you require In which case go and set yourself straight Don’t just throw it in the fire, won’t you keep it for a while and it might grow to get you going

A bitter end is bringing back a new beginning You were tired, but now the energy floats in A light shines down and it will, raise new mountains it will part the rivers, for times are gonna change now for good You were once drifting in the dark Felt like a circle you could walk Forward but nothing made you feel this way I guess it’s good, patient waiting was understood You kept that hope, you thought it had to happen someday You just, thought that maybe your dedication would pay off It’s hard to live, ridding your whole mind of natural doubt concentration bring some admiration in the end Years toiled and working like a clock Working for something they forgot they feared a fall but you just sat back in your chair, you knew that things would shift and change Time sped forward, but consciousness has rearranged All in a day’s work you have gone Off with the sunset of the dawn It is the dawning of the day Frolic in fields once overgrown And you never have to be alone Watch as the planets realign, watch them grow But you believed it all along Thought that we all could carry on Believe in the peace of mind, it’s not so far way, it isn’t hard to say Tell them stop wandering, be prepared Stop thinking everything’s impaired Walk away knowing that at least you tried to make a difference, take it now accept it later Work for progress, not for setbacks, get ready for the night to shine We’re ready to fill the air with sound While watching the flowers on the ground Painting a picture seeing, thoughts acted out It is a different type of day Worries are lifted far away A new kind of feeling in your soul, you are whole All in a day’s work you have gone Off with the sunset of the dawn It is the dawning of a brand new world All of your troubles gone away And there is nothing left to pay A new kind of feeling you believe in yourself, believe in the world Confide in each other, you’re here once again and you’re safe

I took a walk right down the Florida Gulf Coast To see where I’d been going all along A once disputed land of diplomats and privateers The Seminoles were sent to walk away The borders gone now and the sea no longer red The green can glow instead and show the way An area unique to be an area explored But you’ll never get so bored with what’s above Nothing to fight about today Who should live here, no one cares It all just fits inside a mold it’s known as A smaller part of a larger world I sent a letter to my local delegate To see if he could help with my complaint He understood as he was similar in ways He cared because he was so close to home We feel as though we should maintain a good control We’re confident we can, and be fulfilled The realignment gave us knowledge of the past To learn from our mistakes and work things out Larger problems are resolved Larger forces make it better No one left behind without a chance They’ve got some kind of hope I came around the other day Just to show you that I cared You had been here many times before You cared too, you walked through the open door

R: I’ve Been to London, I have been to Paris, France I’ve been all over, seen the world inside a glance But I tell you baby that none of them can match Those bright street corners, and the feeling that can last You feel alone when you’re in a crowded city square But when you’re lonely you will know they’re always there It’s where I’ll make my way I’ve got to have a chance I way I can push forward , a way I can advance Well don’t you know that it’s a special place An isolated case of things done right There’s nothing better in the whole world around Than those New York City Nights A: I’ve been to Texas, I have been to Montreal I tell you honey, it was not so bad at all The different people and the history was a thrill But I needed more adventure, I got no more time to kill B: You see the bright lights on a sunny afternoon Over the high rise, I was leaving much too soon I must get back there, throw away this deep malaise Back to the action, so I don’t waste away my days B: It never sleeps, there’s too much going on A mystery, it always moves forward There’s nothing better in the whole world around Than those New York City Nights B: Well don’t you know that it’s a special place An isolated case of things done right There’s nothing better in the whole world around Than those New York City Nights

Well she’s a cold hearted woman She gives me the icy glare Well she’s a stone cold woman But I haven’t got a care She’s a cold hearted woman To cross her I would not dare Well she wakes me in the morning But She keeps me up all night She doesn’t even care if everything is alright Well she’s a cold hearted woman That no one else can bear She’s a cold hearted woman Sometimes it isn’t even fair Well she’s nice from the inside But out here it’s not the same She’s so fine on the outside But it isn’t quite the same She’s a cold hearted woman That it takes a whole lot to tame Well she speaks to me softly But her hammer strikes hard She can hit me with that feeling And catch me off my guard She’s a cold hearted woman But there’s so much more to say She’s a cold hearted woman But I love her anyway

I want to go where nobody knows I’m there I want to go where nobody knows my name I want to go downtown where they’re breaking ground I want to take in what surrounds me I want to go where nobody knows my name Sally was a girl of age 23 with aspirations Big thoughts small walks through the square on an average day She takes the subway train to get ahead in the game As she sets her spirit free She’s a success, like we all would like to be Billy was a hurried man, but no chip on his shoulder The time is short and he’s only getting older Walks through his office door on the 51st floor And sits down in his chair Because he knows he’ll be trading all the shares I want to go where nobody knows I’m there And move up in the system so that isn’t a problem to bear I want to go downtown where they’re breaking ground I want to take in what surrounds me I want to go downtown where there’s brightness in the air

I’ve been swimming on a cold September morning I’ve been washing the rest of the day away All this time has passed by so quickly Just wait awhile, and it’ll be back again Close your eyes, wait for the day Take your time, or throw it all away Seems so good, so why do we say It has to be this way I’ve seen changes in you, but I see them all around Sometimes an up and sometimes a down So where have you been for all these days Everybody goes their way and comes back around Close your eyes, wait for the day Take your time, or throw it all away Seems so good, so why do we say It has to be this way Oh, so now it comes back into place and out again but we’re always looking forward We seem so happy, maybe we are I see a population that can be Oh, so now it comes back into place and out again but we’re always looking forward We seem so happy, maybe we are I see a population that can be Close your eyes, wait for the day Take your time, or throw it all away Seems so good, so why do we say It has to be this way
